The engine that drives South Africa’s automotive sector.

Of the 596,818 new vehicles sold in South Africa in 2025, the vast majority were sold through the dealership channel. In December 2025 alone, a staggering 90.8% of all new vehicle sales was facilitated through dealerships, which contribute 2% to the GDP of the country.

Contributing to the operations at each dealership is an ecosystem of interlinked and interdependent departments, including sales and marketing, servicing, parts management, finance, HR and others.

In addition to approximately 50,000 direct jobs created within their various departments, franchised dealerships contribute indirectly to the employment of an additional 50,000 workers in South Africa.

As new vehicle brands are introduced locally, the demand continues to grow for skilled workers in the car dealership space, and Motoring Mavericks is here to guide you in this regard.
